Wilbur-Ellis Company, a manufacturer of agricultural products, including pesticides, recently reached a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency.
According to the EPA, Wilbur-Ellis Company's pesticides violated federal laws by omitting key information on product labels. Inspectors found that the company was selling the Supreme Oil product, and after 37 sales, the EPA issued a stop-sale order for the insecticide.
Scott Downey, manager of the EPA's pesticide unit, was quick to note the importance of labeling with pesticides. Improper usage could lead to serious injuries to humans and pets, as well as damage to the environment.
