New York designer Nicholas Felton has made a career out of blending data with visually appealing graphics. One of his most recent projects also includes wine.
Felton has worked with the Between Five Bells winery in Australia to create an informative and visually stunning label for its new 2010 Red, PSFK reports. The labels offer important details about the makeup of each wine, including the vineyard's conditions, fermentation and info about the grapes. However, the designs are also colorful, artistic infographics that jump from the sides of each bottle.
Because each wine's composition is different, no bottle or Felton label will be the same.
In addition to the visual aspect of the label designs, Between Five Bells is proud that the composition of each wine will be completely transparent to consumers.
Felton's data-driven informational designs have also led to a partnership with Facebook, as the social networking site looks to implement a major redesign. Felton, along with graphic designer Ryan Case, joined the Facebook payroll in April 2011, according to Smart Data Collective. Their concepts will help in the design of Timeline, a new web presentation of Facebook profiles.
