    Last month, the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles stated a batch of state-issued car window stickers that had been distributed to residents were created with faulty adhesive, according to, a local news provider.   • Car Sticker for Used Vehicles Provide MPG, Emission Information

    The U.S. Department of Energy and the Environment Protection Agency recently created a car sticker for used vehicles that includes information pertaining to pollution emissions and mileage per gallon similarly to the stickers placed on new vehicles. Car owners can create custom window stickers for their vehicles using the agencies' Fuel Economy website.

    "When we talked with people, they liked the redesigned mileage stickers for new cars from two years ago but they wanted that information for used-car sales, as those make up three times as many sales as new ones," Dennis Smith, national Clean Cities director for the Department of Energy, told Automotive News.

  • UK Government Partners with Home Appliance Retailer to Test Energy-Efficiency Sticker Labels

    British retailer John Lewis is partnering with the the United Kingdom's Department of Energy and Climate Change to place sticker labels on appliances that detail items' lifetime energy costs. The product stickers are part of a pilot program aimed at encouraging consumers to take advantage of the cost savings energy-efficient products can provide.

    According to Express & Star, a news source that covers the U.K. Midlands region, Energy Secretary Edward Davey stated swapping an old washer dryer for an energy-efficient one could save households 500 pounds in lifetime energy costs as well as up to 158 pounds on energy bills.

  • Judge Refuses to Block Food Product Labels Detailing Country of Origin on Meat 

    After the World Trade Organization deemed the United States' food product labels for meat violated international trade law, the U.S. Department of Agriculture wrote new, stricter rules governing what should go on meat packaging. Meat packers brought the USDA to court, claiming the food label printing requirements would unnecessarily raise production costs, among other criticisms.

    This week, U.S. District Judge Ketanji Jackson threw out the injunction, which was led by U.S. meat packers, as well as Canadian and Mexican meat sellers.
