  • Recycled Labels Help Sell Your Craft Products

Recycled Labels Are Rustic and Eco-Friendly

Craft labels have to shoulder a lot of weight. When you turn your crafts into a business, you're entering a marketplace full of established companies. While these big producers tend to have copious marketing budgets, your items' packages are often your main way of getting your message out. You need to make sure your labels are as effective as possible at communicating your brand identity.

That identity may be aligned with eco-friendliness, responsible consumption and handmade rather than mass-produced goods. If so, earth-friendly recycled labels like those from Lightning Labels make the perfect finishing touch for your craft project's look. Giving this distinctive aesthetic to your items can position them effectively within your particular market, carving out a space to thrive. March is National Craft Month, which means it's an appropriate time to focus in on your homemade items' branding and help them live up to their potential.

    Green Labels Set The Tone

Authenticity and responsibility can set your small brand of products aside from the corporate giants making similar products. Creating a unique visual style will help enhance your appeal, and recycled labels can accomplish this feat. Working with Lightning Labels, you can get high-quality, durable labels made from one of several post-consumer-goods materials. Some of these have a rough feel that underlines your natural credentials and plays up your items' handmade nature, while others are sleek and versatile, allowing you to pick any messaging style you choose.

Eco-friendly labels are especially helpful when your brand stands up for green causes publicly. Using sustainable materials in craft product labels shows that you aren't just talking about the issues, but actually following through on your values. This kind of unity of messaging and packaging can give consumers the confidence they need to take a chance on a small, local brand of products. Once you've convinced shoppers to buy an item once, the quality of your products can convince them to stay.

    Saluting the Craft Professionals

Creating crafts is a passion shared by millions around the world, but not just anybody can turn a hobby into a thriving business. Your decision to make the jump is an admirable demonstration of your confidence in the products. It's great to back this confidence up with ideal packaging solutions which will help ensure your hard work doesn't get lost in the shuffle. During National Craft Month, it's a great time to either launch a new business based on handmade products or revise the labels of your current offerings to maximize their appeal.

Eco-friendly labels are one way to update an item and make sure it gets noticed. If that doesn't fit your brand's plans, Lightning Labels can still help. The company offers a huge variety of custom label materials and finishes. Even if your products need tough labeling solutions - for instance beauty products stored in wet bathrooms or candles, giving off heat - Lightning Labels is a partner you can turn to. Craft products are an exciting corner of many a market, and if they're labeled well, they can really stand out.

  • Adorn Your Handcrafted Soaps with High Quality Custom Soap Labels

    Handcrafted Soaps Deserve Beautiful Packaging

When your craft becomes your business, it's important to focus on the little details and ensure your enthusiasm comes across to customers. It's possible to enter the bath and body products sector with handmade soaps, but selling these items may prove challenging without excellent labeling. After all, as a craft producer, you likely don't have the budget for an ad campaign. The way your products appear on store shelves, on your website or at farmers markets will do a lot to determine whether customers are interested.

    Make Your Soap Distinctive

Selling your soap products means striking a balance between handmade charm and professional production values. Lightning Labels will help you thread that needle, offering tough and waterproof bath and body product labels that express your personality while standing up to condition on store shelves and in customers' homes.

No matter what size or shape your soap products are, Lightning Labels offers sizes and materials that will help you find the right labels to promote them. From wrappers on individual bars of soap to large, waterproof custom labels that wrap around hand soap dispensers, there's a label for every need. With an all-digital process, Lightning Labels can deliver impressive, quality imagery on materials that are impervious to water and oils. Your brand's name will still be visible and present, even if the packaging is stored by the sink.

Your choice of materials can also play into your brand's identity. Lightning Labels offers eco-conscious custom soap labels that will impress consumers looking for a more earth-friendly brand. If you have established a green reputation, you can maintain it. If you would like this to become part of your identity, now's the time to start.

As an independent craft producer, your soap product labels serve as a sort of introduction to the world. While consumers can learn about global conglomerates from TV commercials or other mass-distributed ads, your brand's story will be harder to find. A custom label is a great place to spread information and imagery, letting people know how you create your soaps, where you're based and what values your company stands for.

    Lightning Labels Can Help

When you're selling a craft product, your unique perspective is what helps sell the item. Lightning Labels, in its vast variety of label styles and materials, is here to help you communicate that outlook, however you think is best. With an all-digital printing process, quality is high and orders are filled quickly. Lighting Labels' use of domestic production facilities instead of outsourcing helps further cut down shipping time and costs.

When working with a digital printer such as Lightning Labels, rather than a shop that employs photogravure plates, you can order labels in low amounts without breaking the bank. This is vital when the product is handcrafted, as the chances of you producing enough soap to warrant an industrial-sized label order are low. Lightning Labels lets you stand shoulder to shoulder with national companies in the quality and appearance of your soap products, while allowing you to order the amount of labels you need.

  • Are Cans or Bottles Better for Your Craft Beer? We Can Label Both!

    Craft Beer Producers Have Choices

Craft beer has been one of the hottest fields for entrepreneurs in recent years. This is a product that can say a lot about your identity, via the ingredients you choose and packaging you employ, yet still reach a mass audience. If brewing is your profession, you have a series of important decisions to make, including whether to ship your beverages out in glass bottles or aluminum cans.

While making that choice, you can set your mind at ease on one point: No matter which of those options you choose, Lightning Labels is your partner of choice. Lightning Labels offers the ability to print custom beer bottle labels or beer can labels. Opting for labels rather than pre-printed aluminum cans is a way to keep minimum-order sizes low, an absolute money-saver for craft beer brands that don't have the resources available to national macro-breweries.

    Bottle Labels? Can Labels? Both?

Bringing your beer brand to the masses means using your labeling as a kind of advertisement. Customers choosing between your products and others, both from local breweries and the massive multinational corporations, will get to judge all of those brands side by side. Will your items' look stack up effectively?

Fortunately, Lightning Labels can help you make that great impression, with high-quality imagery printed on a variety of materials. You gain access to this difference-making visual appeal whether your beer comes in bottles or cans. You can therefore make the choice between custom beer can labels and beer bottle labels safe in the knowledge that Lightning Labels will have an offering to support your selection.

    • Labels for Bottles: Beer bottles accept a number of labeling styles. You can go for die-cut labels that show off more of the color and shape of your bottle, or larger labels that wrap exciting imagery all the way around. There are many different materials on offer from Lightning Labels, meaning that whether your brand has a hand-crafted and earthy appeal or is slick and futuristic, there's a great choice out there for you.
    • Labels for Cans: When you want to preserve the flavor of your brew and give consumers the option of buying beer in a convenient and easily recyclable package, aluminum cans have your back. While pre-printed cans' minimum order sizes may prove too large for your brewery, you can opt for custom beer can labels from Lightning Labels, turning generic cans into bright representatives of your brand.

    Express Your Brand's Identity

Whether you choose bottles, cans or a combination of both, Lightning Labels can help you express what your beer brand stands for. Your philosophy, regional pride or unique flavor fixations make for great copy, and you can take advantage of Lightning Labels' high-quality, all-digital processes to print this information in compelling and legible text on your bottle or can labels, alongside all legally required disclosures and warnings.

In a competitive and popular space such as the world of craft brewing, there is no room to look bland or boring. Consumers are willing to try new brands, but how will they choose? If you make your labels as bold as possible, it's a canny form of advertising. Lightning Labels can help you accomplish this task.

  • Refresh Product Labels with Logos that Suit Your Brand

    The Value of a Logo

Can you sum up your brand in one iconic image? If your current logo isn't performing this admittedly tall task, it may be time to go back to the drawing board and work until you come up with something serviceable. Introducing a brand through a bold and recognizable logo is one of the most prominent ways of catching customers' attention, and without such a feature, your product labels aren't living up to their potential.

You can refresh your packaging strategy by either revamping a current logo into a more visually pleasing form or introducing a new one. Then, you can work with a reliable labeling partner to ensure the shiny new brand mark is printed in great resolution on sturdy and colorful labels that won't fade or smudge on the shelves. This combination of a solid design and well-made labels can help your whole range of items stand out on shelves.

    Logo Lessons from Unlikely Sources

Forbes contributor AJ Arawal recent explained a surprising place to take influence from when designing your brand's next logo: Warning signs and safety labels. He explained that these two very separate kinds of branding share important traits, and you can learn graphic design lessons from studying caution signs.

For instance, warning labels tend to use "hot" colors such as red or yellow when they are giving must-see information. "Cool" colors such as blue or green are fine for notices or more detailed instructions. When you pick the colors for your re-brand, you should keep these same color principles in mind. Do you want to trigger an urgent need, such as hunger? Bright red may be good. If calm is what you're after, consider blues and greens.

Arawal also pointed out that your particular industry may determine whether you take after safety labels and use consistent, easy-to-understand symbols in your logo, or go in a more abstract direction. He noted that when a spontaneous choice is called for, brands often fall back on well-known images that will support snap decisions. Just as a "do not touch" warning sticker tells people to be careful immediately, these logos say "buy now." On the other hand, industries that deal with longer decision-making processes should feel free to embellish their chosen imagery.

    Unorthodox but Successful

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and your logo design process may deviate considerably from the logical approach named above. Bon Appetit magazine recently gave an example of this phenomenon in action, profiling the La Croix seltzer can. This is a brand that has become popular and borderline iconic using a logo font and graphic design that professionals find unclear or ugly. This is proof that memorable brand logos sometimes arise from forces other than the clear-cut laws of design, and if something catches on, there's no need to steer away from it.

Designer Lyle Zimmerman told the news provider that his logo treatment is meant as a marked contrast to the rest of the fizzy beverage market. Where others used clean, blocky lines, this was a brand that leaned into a flowing look, with layers of color underneath that could be changed for different flavors and made distinctive but recognizable. Out of this counter-programming approach, the brand found its winning logo.

    Strive for New Labels

Once you've made the decision to refresh your brand's logo, it's time to get the new look out into the world via custom product labels. Not all labeling partners are the same, and if you work with the wrong company, your bright new label design may come out looking faded or otherwise wrong. Lightning Labels, with a dual focus on speed and quality, is a partner you can trust to get your products' look just the way you envision it.

  • How to Make Your Vape Labels Stand out from the Rest of the Pack

    Compelling Vape Labels Are Important

When you venture into selling e-cigarette and vaping products, you have to distinguish your offerings in a market that is comparatively young and still evolving. Between the need to stand out among a host of new brands and the importance of keeping up with evolving rules and regulations, labeling is not a straightforward practice in the vape space. Fortunately, when you have a dedicated and experienced third party on your side, your custom vape labels can become an excellent branding asset rather than an afterthought or complication.

Experiment with Texture, Finish and More

Once you ensure your labels are in line with current regulations regarding ingredient disclosure and tobacco warnings, it's time to create a visual identity for your vape products. The obvious elements of design make up a big part of this process - from your logo to the typeface on the label, there are endless variables to tune. However, it may pay to delve deeper into designing vape juice labels and spend time selecting the right material, shape, size and finish for your particular offerings.

When all elements of e-juice labels match up, the impression created by the brand can be remarkably strong. If you want to have a sleek, high-tech look, you can select a chrome material with a glossy finish. If your brand is more dedicated to responsibility and eco-friendliness, you can opt for a rough-textured label made from recycled materials. Furthermore, it's possible to customize the shape and size of your labels to make sure they present your brand's imagery and logo in a flattering way.

Customers picking a new brand of e-juice have only a few cues to go on. Comparing labels in the store may become a process of seeing which brand makes the bigger, more memorable impact. You can potentially help your chances in this regard by creating a label that speaks directly to your image and culture. Vaping is a new space for companies to operate in, meaning you have a big opportunity to make a first impression with customers. Taking a professional and developed approach to labeling is a step in the right direction.

    Order Your Labels Now

The regulations regarding vape labels have shifted in the past and are set to do so again. In a developing space, how can your company afford to focus on strong, effective label designs? A partner like Lightning Labels can help. By employing all-digital processes, Lightning Labels makes it possible to order small print-runs of custom vape labels, so you can move with the times, not have any waste and still get a high-quality look and feel.

Lightning Labels offers a number of shapes, sizes, finishes and materials for vape labels, meaning your brand will likely find a perfect combination that gets its unique identity across. There's no need to settle for a generic look when printing your next batch of vape labels. Instead, you can maximize your branding and appeal, making an instant connection with customers and helping you rise to the top in the young industry. As vaping comes into its own, your brand can go along for the ride.

  • Grocery Giants Get on Board with "Best if Used By" Label

    New Labeling Rule Seeing Attention

If you produce food or beverage products, you likely employ some sort of expiration date to tell when customers how long the items stay at maximum freshness. However, the way you present that information may be very different from other organizations that sell that type of product - at least for now. Out of concern that unclear and inconsistent labeling is causing food waste, industry groups have launched efforts to standardize these dates.

When this story was last in the news, the U.S. Department of Agriculture was promoting a new approach which would center the whole industry around a "best if used by" label instead of the divergent phrases currently in use. Now, more than a month has passed, and major organizations seem poised to take the USDA up on its suggestion.

    The Grocery Industry Acts

According to Produce Grower, the Food Marketing Institute and the Grocery Manufacturers Association are spearheading a voluntary program under which food producers will employ "best if used by" labels in all cases except when an item becomes dangerous after a certain date. In those rare cases, there will be a "use by" label, containing a date when the item in question should be discarded. The groups hope to have the new wording in place by mid-2018, which means companies should start implementing it in production as soon as possible.

The GMA and FMI are touting positive industry reactions to their move, according to Produce Grower. Frank Yiannis, Wal-Mart's vice president of food safety and health, issued a supportive statement, as did Dean Foods Vice President of Quality Jack Jeffers. These executives praised the simplicity of having a united system, as well as the potential to prevent food waste that such a standard might bring about - consumers who are less confused about whether food has gone bad will be less likely to throw away items that are still usable, as the theory goes.

The two organizations pointed out that there are currently over 10 ways to give a freshness date. This overabundance of information is sure to confuse at least some consumers.

Looking back at the FDA announcement

Though the FMI and GMA describe their program as voluntary, it takes many of its cues from the FDA suggestions. In December, Food Processing reported on the FDA's guidance regarding the "best if used by" label. The agency did note that there are no actual regulations about how to label food expiration. There is one type of package where such labels are mandatory - infant formula does currently have laws regarding use by dates.

Food Processing noted that testing and thought went into the selection of the words "best if used by." Rather than being a mandatory choice from among the many styles of expiration dates in use, the phrase was picked because it was found to be the least likely to lead to food waste. The word "best" shows that its a marker of quality rather than safety, and "used by" eliminates ambiguity about the fact it is aimed at consumers rather than retailers.

    Time to Update Labels

The announcement of the FSI and GMA standard has given a sense of urgency to the shift to a new labeling style. With the organizations stating that producers should switch things up as soon as possible, it's a clear indication that you should make sure your very next batch of product labels has the new phrasing. Working with a reliable and fast label provider such as Lightning Labels makes such changes of direction not just possible but simple. Low minimum order sizes ensure that even if you produce niche items, you don't need large quantities of outdated labels lying around. Quick shifts in style become achievable.

  • Lawsuits Show the Cost of Negligent Product Labeling

Keeping Labels Honest: A Financial Imperative

No matter what your particular industry may be, there's a need to study up on and comply with all related packaging laws. Even if you were in compliance as recently as a few years ago, you need to stay constantly appraised of any changes. The FDA's recent updates to its regulations alone should be enough of a reminder that standards don't remain static.

The consequences of falling behind can range from fines to serious lawsuit judgments, and they underline the importance of always staying compliant. Fortunately, regulatory bodies announce any changes far enough in advance for brands to adapt. If you've decided to work with an agile and adaptable custom labeling partner, you should be well-equipped to shift ahead of all relevant rules, whatever parts of your packaging they may be targeting.

    Examples of the Consequences

The following are a few examples of the issues that arise when producers fall afoul of product labeling laws. These clearly demonstrate that taking the time to assess whether an item obeys all applicable laws is the easier way to resolve such a situation. When millions of dollars in penalties are potentially on the line, there's no sense in letting ambiguously labeled products reach store shelves.

    • Whole Foods and Kombucha Brand Fined Millions: As BevNET recently reported, a judgment against GT's Kombucha and Whole Foods Market for false labeling has netted the plaintiffs $8.25 million, 21 percent of the $38 million sought. Several elements of the beverage label in question were found to be incorrect, with the terms "antioxidant" and "non-alcoholic" being used wrongly. The companies behind the kombucha must now pay the financial penalty and change the labels going forward. The complaint originated in 2015 and went through five amendments on the way to this point. Whole Foods, which became part of the case due to one of those amendments, voluntarily stopped carrying kombucha after discovering its alcohol content was higher than advertised.
    • Wal-Mart in California Sued for Misuse of "Biodegradable": Another recent near-seven-figure judgment occurred in California, where the Daily Republic reported that the giant chain and one of its subsidiary companies is on the hook for almost $1 million due to the sale of plastic items that are not biodegradable or compostable, despite their labeling as such. The law violated has been on the state books since 2008, and as part of the settlement, the retailer must pay the state recycling agency $50,000 in addition to its main penalty payment, to ensure the funding of future recyclable testing.

    Work With Adaptable Partners

With the FDA taking advice on the definition of words such as "natural" or "healthy" and rolling out new nutritional facts panel designs, companies that don't update their custom labels to suit the latest rules could find themselves next in line for hefty penalties. Food and beverage providers, health and beauty firms, companies beyond other types of personal care products and still others all have their own needs. The process of changing labels to stay current can be a burden for companies - if they work with labeling partners that only deliver huge batches of product labels or only order on a one-off basis.

If, however, your company teams up with an adaptable label provider, with low minimum order sizes and works with that third party consistently over time, it's easy to to take regulatory changes in stride - this is where Lightning Labels comes in. Using all-digital processes, Lightning Labels does not require large minimum orders, which are a holdover of the photogravure era, in which a new label called for an expensive plate. Lightning Labels grants its customers affordable access to small order sizes and, true to its name, turns these orders around with lightning speed.

The need to stay one step ahead of regulations can obscure a simple fact of product design - you should probably be changing up your packaging's graphic design fairly regularly anyway. While you don't want to lose the iconic elements that let repeat buyers recognize your items, there is a distinct chance your offerings will fade into the background without a frequently refreshed look that catches consumers' eyes. Tastes change over time, and competitors aren't going to hold still in their own design evolution. Evolving is simply a good strategy - and staying in compliance with labeling laws is a good way to remember to stay active.

  • January is National Hobby Month - Label Your Craft Products

Show Off Your Work This January

January is National Hobby Month, meaning it's time to salute handmade items and crafts of all kinds. When your hobby becomes a small business, you need great-looking branding to show your pride in your crafting abilities. Whether you make candles, soap, craft beer, preserves, jelly, jam or any other kind of item, custom labels can catch eyes and draw attention.

You've put in time honing your craft and keeping your project alive over the years. Now it's time to ensure your handiwork earns recognition, whether you sell your products in major stores, at markets and fairs, or just to friends and family. It's never too early or too late to give a fresh, attractive brand identity to your crafts.

From a Hobby to a Career

Today, customers crave a handmade touch in their items - the authenticity and care that you put into your crafts may help them take off. Labeling requirements and strategies will vary based on the products in question, but there's no doubt that an attractive branding strategy can help you stand out. The following list is a far-from-exhaustive look at some crafting types that can turn into fruitful careers.

    • Candles: Creating candles is an especially appealing hobby in the winter months, when a candle can provide a sense of light, warmth and wellbeing in the midst of ice and snow. Using custom candle labels, you can play up the comfy nature of your products - while also giving vital safety info to show your customers you're looking out for them. You can even vary your strategy into something less snow-bound to keep going strong into spring.
    • Soap: The variety of textures, scents and colors you can base soaps around is near-limitless. As a hobbyist or small-business owner, you have freedom to produce small batches of soaps with fascinating attributes that will win customers over. Use your custom soap labels to describe exactly what goes into each bar and impress upon your buyers that they're getting an experience they won't be able to replicate working with huge brands.
    • Craft beer: Beer is perhaps the symbol of the craft goods craze of recent years. A taste for unique flavors in small batches has turned huge swaths of the population into beer connoisseurs. Global brands are turning to local breweries for inspiration instead of vice versa. If you're a small-batch beer producer, make sure your custom craft beer labels show off your regional and independent bona fides. Let people know that you're not a pretender - you're a real local brewer.

    Crafts Deserve Great Labels

Whether you're looking for custom beer labels to draw in curious buyers or searching for a high-impact way to market your candles, Lightning Labels can help. Small producers just starting out don't have to worry about making minimum order cutoffs - because Lightning Labels is an all-digital printer, small batches of labels are affordable. January is getting underway, but it's not too late to act within the month: By using digital processes and working from domestic facilities instead of outsourcing, Lightning Labels is able to turn orders around in days, not weeks or months.

  • Start planning for Valentine's Day with Custom Valentine’s Day Labels

Custom Valentine's Day Labels Enliven Perfume, Candles and More

If you produce items that would make a great gift or romantic scene-setter for couples on Valentine's Day, you shouldn't leave it up to chance that people will associate your brand with the holiday. Instead, why not invest in custom Valentine's Day stickers or labels that will make the connection clear? The next few months will see a wave of shoppers taking to stores, faced with the pressure of putting together memorable presents and dates for their significant others. You can give these consumers an easy choice with your labeling strategy.

    Love is in the Air

You can redefine your products to make them a hit for Valentine's Day. Labels and stickers make all the difference, guiding consumers in the right direction. Branding that mentions Valentine's Day directly could one-up other brands that don't invest in specialized packaging. This may prove especially relevant if you hurry - in February, people will be looking for last-minute presents. In January, you could act as an early reminder and help shoppers get ahead of the game. Imagine how grateful these buyers will be when February rolls around and they already have great presents put aside.

Perfume is one of the most natural gifts associated with Valentine's Day Custom labels for perfume can increase your brand's appeal. Perfume is a simple but elegant and romantic choice, provided it's packaged in a compelling and attractive way. Custom perfume bottle labels that look great and catch the eye can help you win hearts this Valentine's Day. You can even mention the holiday on a custom sticker that the buyer then peels off along with the price tag before handing the bottle over. The sticker is aimed at the customer and encourages a purchase. The label looks elegant and classy and ensures the gift is appreciated.

You can also apply holiday branding to items that create a romantic atmosphere. Try applying custom Valentine's Day stickers to your candle products, explaining what a great ambience they create at date-night dinners. This is a canny branding strategy for candle manufacturers, as shoppers may be getting sick of products branded with winter imagery after the holiday season and the beginning of the new year. Glistening snow fields that once seemed so charming now remind them that February and March are on their way. Why not swap out snowflakes and reindeer for a romantic image set? This could keep at least some of your offerings highly relevant for a few months following the holidays.

    Order Now and Get Started

Your Valentine's Day marketing strategy can begin at any time between now and the holiday. Earlier is likely better, as you don't want to appeal only to last-minute shoppers. It's not too late to get started on a January-focused roll-out for custom labels and stickers, as you have the option of working with Lightning Labels. Lightning Labels ships orders from domestic facilities rather than outsourcing production, and it employs all-digital printing processes that allow customers to get what they're looking for in days, not weeks or months. It's time to start marketing to the lovebirds of the world.

  • New Year, New Look for Your Custom Vape Labels

Ride The Wave of Vaping's Popularity

Every new trend reaches a moment of truth when it either expands into the mainstream or fades away. The vaping and e-cigarette market is taking the former path, meaning it's time to stake your place among this competitive and vibrant space. If your vape labels have gone some time without a visual overhaul, the new year may be your big chance to make a change and improve their presentation. You can make 2017 the year your products sprint ahead of the competition, powered by an exciting new look.

    Catch Consumers' Eyes

Vaping is still in its relative youth. Customers may not yet have favorite brands of the related products - and this is a great opportunity for you to make a splash. E-juice labels that combine vibrant imagery with memorable logos and all the relevant information will leap off store shelves, convincing customers to give your brand a try and hopefully converting loyal brand advocates. In such a new, developing space, you're likely to encounter an arms race of brands unveiling bold and colorful designs. You'll need to have high-quality custom vape labels to stand out against this competition.

An unprofessional or poorly printed label may put your company at a disadvantage - wants to take a chance on a brand that looks amateurish. You need to show how serious you are about the quality of your vaping products through your packaging strategy. As vaping takes off in popularity, a hierarchy of brands will emerge, and you should do your best to ensure you have a place within the top rank.

To establish a distinctive and appealing branding strategy, pick an aesthetic and stick to it. This means choosing a material carefully. Do you want a shiny, futuristic look? Then try out a Chrome BOPP material that's both strong and eye-catching in its silvery sheen. Or maybe you want your customers to know your brand is responsible and eco-friendly? That calls for 100-percent recycled materials. The main connection between these two design extremes is that they're both available from Lightning Labels, a potential partner in your move up the ranks of the vaping market.

    Time to Order New Labels

There are changes afoot in the e-juice label space. New regulations calling for notifications on packaging are moving toward implementation, and the competition is heating up. Only by refreshing your labeling strategy frequently and intelligently can you keep up with the many evolutions underway in the industry. This is why Lightning Labels makes a great ally: With its all-digital processes and domestic manufacturing facilities, Lightning Labels can react quickly and power your new strategies as they debut, no matter how quickly you want to pivot.

Are you a small boutique brand or a rising superpower in the vaping field? It doesn't matter - Lightning Labels can provide order sizes that suit either pole of the market, or any scale in between. An all-digital process means small orders are available at reasonable rates, as there's no need to work with expensive photogravure plates. No matter how many or few labels you need, you can launch your new strategy quickly.

Material Descriptions

Materials

BIOSTONE

One of our eco-friendly options that is actually made of stone—no trees are used. This material should not laminated.

CAST GLOSS

This is another material specially designed for the wine industry. It is paper-based with a high-gloss white finish. Same adhesive and liner as Estate #9.

CHROME (SILVER) BOPP

This material has the same water and oil-resistant properties as our White BOPP and Clear BOPP, but has the "mirror-like" look of shiny chrome.

CLASSIC CREST

Best suited for wine labels, this is a white paper stock with a dull matte finish. It is not suitable for lamination and is therefore not waterproof. Same adhesive and liner as Estate #9.

CLEAR BOPP

This is the clear version of the Polypropylene (BOPP) material. It has the same waterproof qualities as the White BOPP. It provides more of a "no label" look and is also suitable for window stickers (where reverse printing of the image allows the label to be applied to the inside of a glass window and be viewed from the outside).

ESTATE #9

This is a great option for wine labels, gourmet foods or applications where a textured finish is desired. Being a paper stock, it's not as water-resistant or durable as BOPP, but its light cream color and textured feel add a touch of the "unusual" to the right product. It features a special adhesive (removable in 100+ degree hot water) and a stronger liner particularly suited to machine application. Not suitable for lamination.

GOLD POLYESTER (METALIZED)

This material will make your labels shine! Suitable for most labeling applications, it has a strong adhesive backing and must be laminated. Choose glossy laminate to make your label designs pop, or matte for a unique, elegant look.

KRAFT (RECYCLED)

This is a recycled 100% post consumer waste material. It is a 55# paper material that is a wonderful option if an “earthy” appearance is desired. The stronger liner is well suited for machine application. Depending upon face, substrate, water temperature and dwell time, label may be removed in hot water. It is not suitable for lamination; therefore, it is not water or oil resistant.

REMOVABLE WHITE BOPP

This material is the same as our standard BOPP, but has a special, "less aggressive" adhesive designed to allow the label to be removed or re-positioned after application. Depending on the surface it will be applied to, customer testing is strongly recommended. We can provide samples for this purpose.

SATIN CLOTH

Quite the unique material! Yes, it is woven satin acetate cloth. Think wine or spirit labels! This material will make your product packaging POP. The stronger liner is well suited for machine application. Depending upon face, substrate, water temperature and dwell time, label may be removed in hot water.

SQUEEZABLE

A white, 3mil film that is better suited for squeezable applications. This material has proven to work well in a variety of applications, so you can be confident it will perform well for you.

VELLUM (RECYCLED)

A great “green” choice, this 60# vellum is 100% recycled with 100% post consumer waste material. Cannot be laminated. Is neither water nor oil-resistant. The stronger liner is well suited for machine application. Depending upon face, substrate, water temperature and dwell time, label may be removed in hot water.

WHITE BOPP

This is our most commonly used material and is suitable for most applications. It's a polypropylene material with a permanent adhesive. It is impervious to water and oils, and is particularly suitable for bath and body products, as well as food containers.

WHITE EARTHFIRST PLA

A more environmentally friendly alternative to White BOPP. The PLA stands for Polylactic Acid (a biopolymer made from corn rather than petrochemicals). Similar look and feel to BOPP and suitable for most applications, but should not be used directly on candle containers.

WHITE FLEXIBLE VINYL

This is our most substantial material. The vinyl is thicker than BOPP, and is most suitable for outdoor applications where greater strength and durability are needed, or where lengthy exposure to the elements is an issue.

WINDOW DECAL (CLEAR/ULTRA-REMOVABLE)

We offer this window decal option as an alternative to static cling. The face stock is clear with excellent clarity. The adhesive is an ultra-removable featuring excellent weatherability and UV resistance. It removes cleanly from a wide variety of substrates without staining or ghosting. Why worry about static clings staying on when you can have removable adhesive there to hold it in place?

Laminates

High Gloss

High gloss is our most popular laminate. It is the least expensive option and provides protection for the label and a high gloss shiny finish.

Matte

The Matte Laminate provides your label with a dull, non-glossy finish. Some customers consider this achieves a more "natural" look.

Thermal Transfer

This is a gloss laminate that is designed to work with most over-printing thermal transfer printers. We do recommend you get samples first to test through your own printer before placing an order with this laminate.

UV Outdoor Gloss

As the name implies this is best used for labels that will be used outdoors. It has a high gloss finish with excellent UV resistance. It is best paired with our vinyl material for the most durable outdoor label.
