Swedish Manufacturer Introduces Biodegradable Toothpaste Tube

Swedish tube manufacturer TecTubes has created what it claims to be the world's first biodegradable toothpaste tube. The company used resins from the German bioplastics supplier, fKUR, and said that the greatest challenge it faced was finding the components that featured the processing techniques necessary to produce both the tube and its cap. The tube's resin falls under fKUR's BioFlex line, according to Cosmetics Design.
The toothpaste itself is from manufacturer AllVeggie, which opts for bioplastic packaging for its natural product in order to communicate its message of sustainability. AllVeggie's toothpaste is made from natural substances that are Fair Trade-certified and do not exploit nature or people, Greener Package reported.
"It is important for us to emphasize our ecological awareness and send a signal," said Stefan Lundbladh, AllVeggie's manager.
"By using bioplastics, we can fulfill our wish to have an overall environmentally friendly solution," he added.
TecTubes said that its biodegradable tube could be available to other regional brands in the future, depending on the level of demand for sustainable packaging, Cosmetics Design reported.
